Contact Lenses

Uninterrupted Vision

Whether you want a fresh look, the freedom to be more active or if you want all round vision with no restriction, contact lenses are an excellent alternative to glasses. At Nina Davies Opticians we cater to each individual patient, finding the perfect contact lens for them.

Daily Disposable Lenses

Daily disposables are the healthiest and most convenient way to wear contact lenses. They give you a fresh, clear lens every day, with no need for solutions. They're ideal for when you don't want to wear glasses – either occasionally, part-time or every day.

Reusable Lenses

Reusables are for daily wear, but rather than dispose of them at the end of the day you clean and store them in a contact lens case until you wear them again. Some of these contact lenses can also be slept in. They are designed to be replaced every month with a new pair of lenses.

Toric Lenses

Astigmatism is a common condition, caused by a toric curvature of the cornea. It results in blurry or distorted vision at all distances. Toric lenses are specially designed to fit the shape of astigmatic eyes. They are available as daily or reusable contact lenses.

NHS Entitlement

Many patients are entitled to a free eye examination, funded by the NHS. As well as free eye examinations, some patients are eligible for an NHS Spectacle Voucher which can either pay for or contribute towards new glasses or contact lenses. We are also fully acredited to provide Low Vision Services and WEHE examinations free of charge to those who qualify.

Eye Examinations

At Nina Davies Opticians we have invested in the very latest technology and optical equipment. Our practice is equipped with the high specification Topcon Maestro 2 OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) which provides hospital grade laser scanning of the eye.

  • Includes 3D scanning technology
  • Enables earlier detection of disease such as glaucoma, macula degeneration and diabetic retinopathy

This additional service is available to all our patients, although many will only require a standard eye examination, which we believe are of the highest standard and typically include...

  • History & Symptoms
you will be asked about your general health and any medication, as this can sometimes be relevant to any difficulties with your eyes
  • Present Spectacles
evaluation your current spectacles and prescription to ascertain whether they are still appropriate for you
  • Refraction
this process includes testing for distance vision and near (reading) vision
  • Pupil Reflexes
checked in order to ensure the pupils are reacting normally to light as an abnormal reaction may indicate neurological problems
  • Oculomotor Balance
this checks the eye muscles correctly align the eyes at all distances
  • Intra-ocular Pressures
always investigated as a higher pressure can indicate the presence of Glaucoma
  • Ophthalmoscopy
evaluating the health of your eyes as conditions such as diabetes, cataracts, hypertension and macular degeneration can be detected and monitored
  • Visual Field Examination
if deemed to be required this will examine your peripheral vision
